Prompt: Compare and contrast “island-hopping” in the Pacific to the D-Day invasion.
The D-Day (Decision Day) invasion was a one day invasion, while Island Hopping took place over an extended period of time in an attempt to reach Japan. The D-Day invasion was much more planned out and involved so many people storming Normandy Beach. Island Hopping, although it was drawn out, consisted of a series of invasions, rather than one invasion. The similarity between the two methods is that the military is reaching a country through another country. D-Day invasion is more of a sprint to Germany, while island hopping is jumping around.
