Obviously, the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor caused the United States to enter the second world war. The day after the attack, the United States declared war on Japan. The United States knew about a potential attack from the Japanese, but did not know when the attack would strike or where they would strike. In Europe, the fall of Spain and France led the United States to the war. Hitler gave Francis Franco money to overthrow the government in Spain. Hitler took over most of France, leaving the allied powers with just Britain.
